Rewind to 2006, when our founders, Dr Sally Beattie and Emer Bustard, first started producing their free-from cakes in their home kitchens and selling them at local farmer's markets. The lack of free-from snacks that tasted good and were easily accessible sparked an idea to create something better.
From those humble beginnings, the Lazy Day family has grown to include a team of talented bakers in our bespoke free-from factory, where we bake, decorate and package all our cakes and treats for people all over the UK to enjoy!

Our Bespoke Free-From Bakery in Scotland
In 2017, we moved into our dedicated state-of-the-art free-from bakery in the heart of Scotland. This move allowed us to expand our range of treats, welcome new people into our team, and, most importantly, maintain superior quality, safety, and care in every product we make.
Our 26,500ft² site is completely free from gluten, eggs, dairy, and nuts – the only allergen we handle is soya, but not all of our products contain it (ingredients can be found on individual product pages). We have strict procedures in place right the way through our supply chain to ensure all of our ingredients are carefully sourced and tested.
We take allergen control very seriously and operate a regular rolling testing procedure, so we can confidently say that our cakes and treats are free from any allergens or cross-contamination.
BRC Grade AA+ Accreditation
As a reflection of our commitment to quality and safety, we're proud to hold the BRC Grade AA+ certification for Quality Standards. This means that our bakery meets the highest standards in food production, hygiene, and quality control.

The People Behind Our Delicious Free-From Treats
Of course, our factory is only every bit as good as the people who work in it – and they’re pretty incredible!
Over the years, we've built up a team of over 100 people who are involved in all aspects of our process. From baking and decorating to packaging and distribution, each member of our team plays a crucial role in creating the treats you know and love.
Around 43% of our Lazy Day team lives in the local area, and it's fantastic that we can provide these opportunities for our community.
We hand bake all of our cakes and treats using recipes developed by our talented team, using only the highest quality ingredients in our creations, including real Belgian chocolate and natural orange oil, to ensure that every bite is packed with flavour.
But more than just their skills in the kitchen, our team shares a passion for creating delicious free-from treats and positively impacting people's lives. Without them, our bakery wouldn't be the success it is today.

After the baking and decorating are complete, our treats are carefully packaged and distributed throughout the UK to be enjoyed by people like you looking for delicious free-from options.
We're excited to now be able to share our treats nationwide, including in seven of the UK's biggest supermarkets and retailers, like Tesco, Waitrose, Sainsbury's and Morrisons. The next time you're doing your weekly shopping trip, browse the free-from aisle and see if you can spot us!
